Prepare Yourself for the Feels!

**Warning: Spoilers!** I love a good cry. Sometimes its just good to let it all out. Room by Emma Donoghue definitely did it for me! I've passed this book a dozen times and never thought to pick it up. I think it was the cover. I judge every book by its cover and the simplistic nature wasn't for me, but when I beard they were turning it into a movie I decided to give it a shot. And I am so glad that I did! To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits. Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it's not enough...not for her or for him. She devises a bold escape plan, one that r...

Update on The Astronaut Wives Club by Lily Koppel

UPDATE:  I have really exciting news about one of my favorite reads of 2013!  The Astronaut Wives Club  by Lily Koppel, has officially been green-lit and ordered straight to series by ABC Studios. According to TV Guide the series will be hitting the small screen this summer as a 10 episode season. This book was a really, really, REALLY good read and I hope the series lives up to the book. Some other exciting news about this series is that Stephanie Savage & Josh Schwartz are the creators and executive producers of the show! If you don't know who they are, they are the creators of  Gossip Girl , which just wrapped up its sixth and final season in December 2012. That was one of my favorite shows (Blair and her headbands made that show), so I'm excited to see what they do with this. Some other news about this series, is that Joanna Garcia Swisher has joined the cast. You may remember her as pregnant teen Cheyenne on  Reba  or most recently as Ariel, the ...

I just think they're so interesting, especially when they're on people who are no longer with us and can't tell their story. So when I was watching CBS Sunday Morning , a couple of months ago, they did a piece on Lily Koppel's new book, The Astronaut Wives Club . Photo Courtesy of www.astronautwivesclub.com What's more American than apple pie, big mac's and astronauts? I was instantly intrigued by the idea of doing a book on the woman who were behind some of America's heroes.  the picture on the cover is of seven impeccably dressed All American women, which is also a picture that ran on Life Magazine in 1959. It was a window into a period of time that I find so fascinating, I was hooked! The book starts out with a simple prologue and background about how this book came to life. It also includes a list of all the women and a short one line description. ...
