Univoxbox Brought to You by Influenster

As I've said many times before I am a badge carrying member of Influenster Nation. Influenster is a review driven website that lets you earn badges in specific categories.  Once you've reached a certain score you may become eligible for their testing program called Voxbox. A voxbox can be one of two things, brand or themed related.  Up until now I have only received brand centered boxes, which have included a toothbrush, shoe insoles, makeup and dish soap.  Now I know what you're thinking "OMG how lucky are  you!", no you thought the same thing I did which was "that's lame". The only thing I am thoroughly happy with was my Dr. Scholls Active Insoles. Everything else was just okay.

The UniVoxbox however, is my first themed box. I'm guessing from the name that the target audience is college students. While I am not a college student I still received the box. Although I wouldn't say its directly targeted for anyone other than women.  While not a relatively large box it did include 6 items.
Contents:
 - Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-On Manicure in TGIF ($5.99 for colors/$7.99 for patterns)
- NYC New York Color Expert Last Color in Forever Fuchsia ($1.99)
- Pilot Acroball PureWhite ($4.59 3 pack/$6.24 4 pack/$7.49 5 pack)
- Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation ($4.99- $5.49)
- Playtex Sport Fresh Balance ($3.99-$4.99)
- Red Rose REAL TEA Premium Water Enhancer ($4.49)

So far I have used 5 our of 6 products.

imPRESS Press-On Manicure: I despise fake nails. I don't even like gel manicure and those aren't even fake.  So I wasn't exactly into these, but I figured hey I have to try them anyways. So I did and while they were extremely easy to apply, as well as being a cute pattern, they were just eh. For awhile in college I had acrylics, but I stopped because 1. They got expensive 2. I hate long nails, and 3. The ladies at the salon would always make fun of my nail beds because they're narrow and tiny.  Junior year though I kicked my obsessive nail picking habit and have been doing mani's ever since.

While these nails are quite appealing for the younger tween to high school set, they just weren't for me.  If you need them for a special occasion though and have no time for a mani these might be a good option. I might even like them if they came in a shorter length because these were just to long for my taste. I give them a B+ for effort though.

NYC Expert Last Lipstick: I love lipstick! Lipstick is so fun! I prefer it to gloss, tints, gloss balms, etc. etc. There's just something so nice about rich saturated color that's just dream worthy. I think my favorite lipstick of the moment is Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte for Rimmel in 101. It's a classic cool pink. Slightly darker/ nuder so its not a Barbie pink but, its still classic and wearable.

This lipstick from the drugstore brand New York Color (NYC) is my first lipstick from them.  I currently own one of their Liquid Lipshines in (Brighton Beach Peach) which are fantastic full coverage glosses, but this is my first of their lipsticks.  The color is Forever Fuchsia and boy is it bright! Hot, deep, staining, full coverage pink! It's not a wearable everyday color, you would definitely need to plan the rest of your makeup around it. I also don't think It's for everyone, so if you're shy around bright colors or just aren't into them in general I'd skip.  The formula however, is fantastic! It promises 6 hours of wear and I think that could go either way. It all depends on how much you do with your lips in those 6 hours (eating, drinking, other activities...). It's very staining though, so you do get that effect. I think you could wear this and then at the end of the day throw a gloss or balm over it instead of retouching. Overall I give this an A-.

Pilot Acroball PureWhite: I actually got this pen last summer in one of my Birchbox(s) and loved it! I just recently picked up more at Target. These pens are great, I mean there's not much you can say about a pen.  It writes, lasts about 6 months, and they're fun colors. The only problem I have is that I got the pen in orange and it doesn't really show up well. B

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation: I tested this yesterday with no primer and no other makeup on my face. It worked out well, at the 2 hour mark I could start to feel the oil buildup under my makeup. The shine broke through about 2 hours later, which was pretty good. I have super oily skin, so "matte" doesn't really mean anything to me. I was excited to learn that it was extremely full coverage. I still needed some concealer, because I currently have a couple of blemishes on my chin, but other than that it covered well enough, that you could do without concealer. A little bit definitely goes a long way. I was too overzealous in not knowing how much I was going to need, but I definitely did not need a lot. So for the value that this actually is, and the amount of product you get it will last you for quite a bit. I think I might want to try another color, Light Ivory is just a tad too light for me. Although, the next color will probably be too dark. It's not too light that I can't work with. I give it a B, my grade could improve once I play around with it a little more.
Playtex Sport Fresh Balance: I haven't tried these yet because well ya know. The only difference I can tell by what I've read and the box it that they're scented. Not that big of a deal, unless you're allergic to fragrance. I could see that being a problem.

Red Rose REAL TEA Premium Water Enhancer: I like water enhancers. I'm like a crazy water drinker. I like to stay very hydrated.  That being said I'm a fan of water enhancers, okay? I have used Crystal Light, Propel, Mio, pretty much everyone under the sun. These are simply pure tea in concentrate. The flavor I got was Black Tea, but I also saw an Earl Grey and a Blackberry Currant.  You get 24 servings a bottle and also get no dyes/color, lightly sweetened, gluten free, a caffeine boost, and only 5 calories. Worth it to try, I don't know if I would really buy it myself, but it was nice to try. B.

I really enjoyed this box! It was so much better than the others I have received so far. I would recommend all of these products 100%. Some probably more than others, but really everyone would get a good word (and has if you've gotten this far in the post). I hope I get another box soon, who knows though they're kinda sporadic. I Live a Glam Life...Kinda ~ November 2015 Birchbox!

This month I decied to do something a bit different and get the Guest Editor or Curated box. It helped a lot that the box was curated by one of my favorite YouTubers Tati Westbrook! She along with Emily Eddington ( Emilynoel83 ) and Melissa Autry ( Melmphs ) are gurus I consistently watch. And by consistently watch I mean every week! I trust Tati, so I knew I would love everything in her box! Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum/ Full-size $36 This gentle, hypoallergenic hyrating serum plumps skin while promoting cellular regeneration. I was so excited to try this! Allure actually recommends this brand to girls like me with oily/blemish prone skin, so I couldn't wait to try! I agree taht its hydrating, so hydrating that I actually disn't feel the need to moisturize. Not a strong scent if any and just really great all around. I kinda litke it better than Shiseido Ultimune, which I just finished up. Final Grade: B+ Living Proof Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo/ Ful...

Effortless Summer ~July 2016 Sephora Play~

We didn't get spoilers for this month's box until right before it shipped out. I'm not 100℅ sure of that reason, other than to torture us. The only clue we did have is possible spoilers and word that they were splitting up the boxes according to skin type (combo/oily, normal/dry). Knowing that I filled out my profile for oily skin and that even on my beauty insider profile (Sephora's rewards program) I'm listed as oily I didnt worry about which box I'd get. Until I checked my Play subscription and I got the normal/dry box. So yeah, here it goes... First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (Full-size $20): This is something I've used before and currently own a full size of. This is a nice face wash. I like it during the winter to use after a workout. It removes my surface oils and dirt, but doesn't strip your skin. It's a bit like soap, so if you're not into facial soaps I would skip. I passed this sample along because I honestly didn't need it. ...

Memoir of the Sunday Brunch by Julia Pandl

Woo Woo 2014, a month late but hey I'm a busy girl. So I've tackled the first book of the new year and it was Julia Pandl's Memoir of the Sunday Brunch.   Pandl a stand-up comic originally from the Milwaukee area tells, personal family tales of her sweet, but often failed childhood memories. From being the youngest of nine to free child-slave labor at her father's restaurant. Told in two parts, the first of funny brunch serving, sibling squabbles, and a lot of twitching; The second of more recent memories of caring for someone who once cared for you. Photo Courtesy of Goodreads.com "I thought my dad was just like every other dad, until the day I worked my first Sunday Brunch" Be prepared for the second half of the book to shock you emotionally. It goes from a funny eye rolling recount of childhood, transitioning into being an adult child with rapidly aging parents. The second half was particularly heartwarming and sweet. Of course there's still som...
