Special Edition TopBox from RachhLoves!!!

I don't know about you, but I love me some Beauty Gurus! I've talked about my love for Tati Westbrook before, as I got up early to specifically pick her curated November 2015 Birchbox. So while watching another of my favorite ladies (RachhLoves) I came across a limited edition TopBox available for purchase, TopBox is a Canadian beauty box subscription service that is in my eyes enviable, because I've always liked what they've sent out. Since I could preview everything in the box and it was a good price ($19) I decided this was the perfect opportunity to try! The box came with 6 items and we got to choose 3 of them. I was actually pretty excited that we got to choose the color of the lip gloss and had a choice between a pair of Summer 2016 Essie polishes. The box had a value of over $60, so I thought it was a pretty good deal. I've put everything to the test now and I have come to some very informative conclusions!

Nyx Butter Gloss in Raspberry Tart ($4.99) - This was one of the items we got to choose the color for and I am in love with it! This gloss really has a nice wash of color and the feel on the lips is comfortable, non-sticky, nor overly sliding around. I wore this for a week straight I was so impressed by it. These are readily available at Ulta, Target, and drugstores. The reason I picked the purple one is because I love purple lip gloss! Final Grade: A+

Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara (FS $24.99) - First, let's talk about the actual tube this sample came in. The product is deep within the plastic tube and then there's a 1 inch section of just plastic that the wand goes through in order to get out. Then once done with the product you have to click the top back on. I have never seen a mascara sample like that and trust me I've seen my fair share. I wasn't too impressed the first time I tried this, the brush reminds me of Benefit's They're Real and Roller Lash combined, but once this mascara dried out a bit I really ended up liking it. I'm almost done with it and if I wasn't so loaded with mascara's I would buy a full-size. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the market for a full fan falsies look mascara. Final Grade: B+

GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment (FS $69) - I'm sure by now everyone is familiar with GlamGlow's Supermud, which is the clay mask that "sucks" everything out of your pores. I've used that mask multiple times and have never had that result that others have. I was excited to try this because I'm a skincare junkie and love to mask, but it's just okay. I wouldn't say I saw any magical brightening results, but if you have particularly dull skin and don't see much in the way of breakouts I would consider giving this a try. If you're interested in trying GlamGlow and are just looking for a general recommendation I would suggest Powermud which is actually my favorite. It goes on as a mud, then you wet it, it turns into an oil and you rinse that off for smooth skin. If you've tried GlamGlow before and have been rather unimpressed as I have, I suggest Formula 10.0.6, which is sold at Ulta and other drugstores. They make great masks, I've included the link here. Final Grade: C+

Delectable Everything Balm (FS $16) - I love a good multi-purpose balm. I've been loyal to Glossier balmdotcom for about 6 months now and I was excited to try another brand that I could readily buy in stores, but then I found out that they actually don't sell this product at my local Kohls, so yeah. This  is very thin, it has a great feel on the lips, but the taste is disgusting. It smells delicious, but the taste is that of artificially sweet chemicals and I'm not into that. It does have other uses other than lips such as dry cuticles, split ends, rough elbows, and I will definitely be trying it for those purposes. Final Grade: B-

Essie Summer Collection in Loot the Booty & Viva Antigua (FS $8.50) - I've tried both of these polishes already and am currently wearing Viva Antigua. I've put my nails through quite the ringer and at the end of the week it was still going strong. I was very impressed with this color because it is just the most beautiful teal with gold flecks that make it appear lighter. Loot the Booty on the other hand is another story. I love navy colored polish and this one has tiny flecks of silver and white shimmer which I assumed would make it so gorgeous. While the polish is incredibly gorgeous in the bottle it went on so goopy. Even with quick dry drops this took forever to try down and moved around a lot on my nails. I was not impressed with it.  I've actually had that issue with another Essie mini, so I'm wondering if sometimes there's just a bad batch, perhaps it isn't thinned out enough, I'm not sure I'm not a cosmetic chemist, but not a fan of Loot the Booty. Final Grade: B+

I'm so happy that I got this box. I've enjoyed a lot of the products and it was only $19, which is a little bit more than I like paying for subscription boxes, but there have been some nice discoveries. I had a pleasant experience with TopBox, so I'm glad that we in the States were able to try this out. Much love to RachhLoves for sharing this box. I've linked the original video below, as well as her channel. She's great and please do check her out. That's all for now!

I Live a Glam Life...Kinda ~ November 2015 Birchbox!

This month I decied to do something a bit different and get the Guest Editor or Curated box. It helped a lot that the box was curated by one of my favorite YouTubers Tati Westbrook! She along with Emily Eddington ( Emilynoel83 ) and Melissa Autry ( Melmphs ) are gurus I consistently watch. And by consistently watch I mean every week! I trust Tati, so I knew I would love everything in her box! Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum/ Full-size $36 This gentle, hypoallergenic hyrating serum plumps skin while promoting cellular regeneration. I was so excited to try this! Allure actually recommends this brand to girls like me with oily/blemish prone skin, so I couldn't wait to try! I agree taht its hydrating, so hydrating that I actually disn't feel the need to moisturize. Not a strong scent if any and just really great all around. I kinda litke it better than Shiseido Ultimune, which I just finished up. Final Grade: B+ Living Proof Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo/ Ful...

Effortless Summer ~July 2016 Sephora Play~

We didn't get spoilers for this month's box until right before it shipped out. I'm not 100℅ sure of that reason, other than to torture us. The only clue we did have is possible spoilers and word that they were splitting up the boxes according to skin type (combo/oily, normal/dry). Knowing that I filled out my profile for oily skin and that even on my beauty insider profile (Sephora's rewards program) I'm listed as oily I didnt worry about which box I'd get. Until I checked my Play subscription and I got the normal/dry box. So yeah, here it goes... First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (Full-size $20): This is something I've used before and currently own a full size of. This is a nice face wash. I like it during the winter to use after a workout. It removes my surface oils and dirt, but doesn't strip your skin. It's a bit like soap, so if you're not into facial soaps I would skip. I passed this sample along because I honestly didn't need it. ...

Memoir of the Sunday Brunch by Julia Pandl

Woo Woo 2014, a month late but hey I'm a busy girl. So I've tackled the first book of the new year and it was Julia Pandl's Memoir of the Sunday Brunch.   Pandl a stand-up comic originally from the Milwaukee area tells, personal family tales of her sweet, but often failed childhood memories. From being the youngest of nine to free child-slave labor at her father's restaurant. Told in two parts, the first of funny brunch serving, sibling squabbles, and a lot of twitching; The second of more recent memories of caring for someone who once cared for you. Photo Courtesy of Goodreads.com "I thought my dad was just like every other dad, until the day I worked my first Sunday Brunch" Be prepared for the second half of the book to shock you emotionally. It goes from a funny eye rolling recount of childhood, transitioning into being an adult child with rapidly aging parents. The second half was particularly heartwarming and sweet. Of course there's still som...
