Birchbox July 2015 Go Bold

Birchbox would like you to Go Bold this month! First I just want to point out how amazing this months box is, the actual physical box. I am absolutely totally in love with the print and I was overly careful in opening up the outer pink box in order to not scratch or damage the beautiful inner contents. I've never been overly impressed with every Birchbox that I get. There's always 1-3 items I hate and 2-3 that I love. This month though I loved EVERYTHING!

July Sample Choice: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Venezia Full-Size: $24
"This creamy formula glides on like a gloss yet lasts (and lasts and lasts) like a stain."
For almost a year now we've been able to pick one of our samples. This month we were able to choose 1 of 3 colors of Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick. Sample choice was early this year and the mobile site wasn't working for me, so I wasn't able to chose my color. I was a little upset because I knew I would get the coral color. I did want Bella which was is a bright pink, or Beso a true red, but instead I was stuck with Venezia the coral. I actually think that Venezia is a gorge color just not for me. Corals if not pink, and I mean heavily pink based look awful on me. Luckily for me though I will be swapping with my BFF who got Bella in her box!

Coola SPF 30 Organic Makeup Setting Spray Full-Size: $36
"Weightless, matte-finish mist that sets your look, hydrates skin, and blocks UV rays"
I'm currently all out of setting spray which is a staple for me in the summer, so I'm 100% okay with getting this in my box. This spray has a nice scent, matte finish and SPF! It's like a a dream come true! Verdict: I think I will be purchasing this spray instead of Urban Decay's All Nighter for the summer. I think it's a fabulous product.

dr. brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant Full-Size:$78
"Breakthrough at-home treatment for a glowing complexion-no pricey derm appointment required"
I have dr. brandt pores no more vacuum which isn't a bad spot treating mask, so this will be a good to try. Friday is my mcrodermabrasion/peel day so this will be good to rotate in. Verdict: This is the exact same thing as Philosphy's Microdelivery just about $30 more and with a citrus scent. A nice gentle scrub that I would never in a million years spend money on.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray Full-Size: $22-$42
"This cult favorite multitasker soaks up oil and gives hair body and bounce"
I have been wanting to try this since it was first featured on Birchbox. I've heard so many good things about this spray, but I should use it sparingly because it's expensive and I am not made of money. I've used dry shampoo before, but never  a texturizing spray. The closest I've come to it is Bumble & Bumble Pret-a-Powder which is considered a texturizer and I love that so hopefully this works even better or as well. Verdict: This is definitely not like B&B Pret-a-Powder, which I would actually spend the money on. I think maybe my hair isn't the right type for this type of spray. I have thin, greasy, easily tangled, curly hair so most universal products don't work for me. It was just an okay product. I know it definitely didn't work on curly hair, it just tangled the heck out of it.

theBalm Cosmetics Balm Desert Full-Size: $21
"A blush and bronzer in one, this velvety powder gives a long-wearing fresh-from the beach glow"
Love theBalm! Although mini-rant: why are these samples so small?? They've gotten smaller and smaller over the years. Hopefully I'll be able to pick enough product up to be effective. I was nervous to try this because I heard it was rather warm, but it look nice swatched, so it should work. Verdict: This actually isn't that bad of a product, from what I could tell. As I said and as you can see the sample is extremely small. Balm Desert has just the right amount of warmth for my fair/light skin. If you're darker than light/medium I would steer clear because I don't think this will be showing up on your skin.

July was a really good month for me sample wise. I will be using everything and most likely enjoy it. Sample choice preview is already up and we can choose from a mousse, moisturizer, dry shampoo, and the Coola setting spray I received this month. I would love to choose the setting spray, but I won't get points for it since I've already reviewed it on the site, so dry shampoo it is. That's all for now!

<3's Laterz

PS My nail color is Trustafarian by Butter London, a nice sheer mermaid type color. Perfect for summer!

PSS dr. brant, Oribe, and coola all came individually sealed which I appreciate. Not that I've ever had a problem with my products being used or damaged from bb. Well there was this one time with a Cynthia Rowley liner being melted and smashed, but I think that has more to do with their warehouse being in Tennessee and it was August that I received it.

I Live a Glam Life...Kinda ~ November 2015 Birchbox!

This month I decied to do something a bit different and get the Guest Editor or Curated box. It helped a lot that the box was curated by one of my favorite YouTubers Tati Westbrook! She along with Emily Eddington ( Emilynoel83 ) and Melissa Autry ( Melmphs ) are gurus I consistently watch. And by consistently watch I mean every week! I trust Tati, so I knew I would love everything in her box! Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum/ Full-size $36 This gentle, hypoallergenic hyrating serum plumps skin while promoting cellular regeneration. I was so excited to try this! Allure actually recommends this brand to girls like me with oily/blemish prone skin, so I couldn't wait to try! I agree taht its hydrating, so hydrating that I actually disn't feel the need to moisturize. Not a strong scent if any and just really great all around. I kinda litke it better than Shiseido Ultimune, which I just finished up. Final Grade: B+ Living Proof Perfect hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo/ Ful...

Effortless Summer ~July 2016 Sephora Play~

We didn't get spoilers for this month's box until right before it shipped out. I'm not 100℅ sure of that reason, other than to torture us. The only clue we did have is possible spoilers and word that they were splitting up the boxes according to skin type (combo/oily, normal/dry). Knowing that I filled out my profile for oily skin and that even on my beauty insider profile (Sephora's rewards program) I'm listed as oily I didnt worry about which box I'd get. Until I checked my Play subscription and I got the normal/dry box. So yeah, here it goes... First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (Full-size $20): This is something I've used before and currently own a full size of. This is a nice face wash. I like it during the winter to use after a workout. It removes my surface oils and dirt, but doesn't strip your skin. It's a bit like soap, so if you're not into facial soaps I would skip. I passed this sample along because I honestly didn't need it. ...

Memoir of the Sunday Brunch by Julia Pandl

Woo Woo 2014, a month late but hey I'm a busy girl. So I've tackled the first book of the new year and it was Julia Pandl's Memoir of the Sunday Brunch.   Pandl a stand-up comic originally from the Milwaukee area tells, personal family tales of her sweet, but often failed childhood memories. From being the youngest of nine to free child-slave labor at her father's restaurant. Told in two parts, the first of funny brunch serving, sibling squabbles, and a lot of twitching; The second of more recent memories of caring for someone who once cared for you. Photo Courtesy of Goodreads.com "I thought my dad was just like every other dad, until the day I worked my first Sunday Brunch" Be prepared for the second half of the book to shock you emotionally. It goes from a funny eye rolling recount of childhood, transitioning into being an adult child with rapidly aging parents. The second half was particularly heartwarming and sweet. Of course there's still som...
